It probably won't surprise anyone to know that Windows has a tendency to retain useless information. You may notice that your on screen pointer starts to behave erratically or your computer might just crash (freeze) for no apparent reason. This happens most with older versions of the Windows operating systems. The easiest way to keep that from happening, especially if you use your computer for extended periods of time, is to restart it. It gives Windows a chance to 'flush its buffers' and start over from scratch. Now here is what many of you don't know, shutting down your computer for the day and starting it the next day, is not a restart, nor is shutting it down for a few minutes and starting it back up again. I have taught many computer classes over the years and this is one of the hardest things to get across to people. When you go to your start button, then to the shutdown window, you are given a chose to "Shutdown" or "Restart". There is a big difference, in order to accomplish what I have explained above, you must choose "Restart", not "Shutdown". Do this several times a week and you will have less problems with your computer.
